We are working on Capitol Hill for a new direction for our country.

I'm excited about our opportunities in the next Congress and I'm fortunate to be in a unique position to help advance many of the goals we share.

First and foremost, with solid Democratic majorities in both houses, we will move boldly and quickly with President Barack Obama to protect homeowners and revitalize our nation's economy.

But the American people want and expect us to do more.  After eight years of political stagnation, we can advance important legislation on critical issues like health care, immigration reform, and technology -- all important elements of our rebuilding economy. 

As Chair of the Subcommittee on Immigration, a leading member of the Judiciary Committee, and Chair of the California Democratic Congressional Delegation -- the single largest delegation on Capitol Hill - I'll be in an ideal position to push for bipartisan solutions to our most critical national challenges. 

I look forward to representing you as an active leader on the many issues for which you and I care deeply.  We both know that a new Democratic President working with a Democratic Congress can accomplish great things for America.
